Custom & Commission Terms
Custom & Commission Terms
Custom and commissioned sets from The Nail Court are created collaboratively and made specifically for you. Please review the following terms before submitting or purchasing a custom design.
Custom Design Requests
When requesting modifications to an existing Nail Court design, please use the customization or description box provided on the product page.
Please include:
- The design changes you would like to request
- A valid email address where The Nail Court can contact you
Submitting a request does not guarantee that every modification can be accommodated.
The Nail Court will review your requested changes and contact you to confirm whether they are possible. Depending on the requested changes, additional costs or processing time may apply.
Please wait for confirmation before assuming a requested modification has been approved.
Commission Quotes
Fully custom commissions are quoted individually based on factors including:
- Design complexity
- Number of detailed or character-art nails
- Three-dimensional artwork
- Materials and embellishments
- Requested deadline
- Any additional custom requirements
Receiving a quote does not reserve production time until the order has been placed and payment has been completed.
Design Draft & Approval
After your commission has been quoted and your order has been placed, The Nail Court will prepare a design draft or concept for your review before production begins.
You will have an opportunity to review the overall design direction and request reasonable adjustments before approving the design for production.
Production will begin after approval is received.
If changes requested at the design-draft stage substantially alter the original quoted concept, complexity, materials, or scope of the commission, an updated price and/or processing timeline may be required before work continues.
Surprise Commissions
If you would prefer your custom design to remain a surprise, you may specifically request a surprise commission.
In that case, the normal design-approval stage may be skipped based on your request, and you authorize The Nail Court to use artistic discretion within the preferences, references, exclusions, budget, and other information you provided.
Surprise commissions may skip one or both visual approval stages when specifically requested by the customer.
Production
Once the design has been approved and production begins, the approved concept becomes the basis for the finished set.
Because Nail Court sets are individually hand-painted, slight variations inherent to handmade artwork may occur.
These natural variations do not constitute a defect.
Finished Set Approval
Before a custom or commissioned set is shipped, The Nail Court will provide photographs of the completed set for your review unless you have specifically requested not to receive a finished reveal as part of a surprise commission.
At this stage, you may request small amendments when reasonably possible.
Small amendments may include minor adjustments to details, finishing touches, or other changes that do not require the set or a substantial portion of the artwork to be remade.
Major Changes After Completion
Finished-set approval is intended for small amendments rather than redesigning an already completed commission.
Requests that substantially change an approved design — including major changes to the concept, characters, artwork, colors, shape, length, or multiple completed nails — may:
- Require an additional fee
- Extend the processing timeline
- Require affected nails to be remade
- Be declined when the requested change is not reasonably possible
Any additional charge will be discussed with you before extra work begins.
Customer Approval
Customers are responsible for reviewing design drafts and finished-set photographs carefully before providing approval.
Please verify any customer-provided names, lettering, dates, symbols, references, measurements, or other personalized details during the approval process.
Once final approval has been given and the order has shipped, changes can no longer be made.
Response Time & Production Timeline
Production may be paused while The Nail Court is waiting for required customer approval, measurements, clarification, or other information necessary to complete the commission.
Delays in customer responses may therefore move the estimated completion or shipping date.
The Nail Court will not begin or continue work that requires customer approval until the necessary approval or information has been received.
Sizing
Customers are responsible for providing accurate measurements or selecting the correct size.
A custom or commissioned set made according to the measurements or sizing information supplied by the customer is not eligible for a complimentary remake because of an incorrect customer measurement.
Sizing issues may instead be handled through The Nail Court's Replacement Nail / Sizing Remake option when applicable.
If The Nail Court creates a size different from the measurements or size confirmed with your order, the affected nail or nails will be corrected at no additional cost.
Cancellations
Custom and commission orders follow The Nail Court's general cancellation policy.
Orders may be cancelled within 24 hours of purchase. After that cancellation window has passed, the order is considered final and cannot ordinarily be cancelled.
Any cancellation or refund rights required by applicable law remain unaffected.
Final Sale
Because custom and commissioned sets are created specifically for the individual customer, they are final sale and are not eligible for returns or exchanges except where required by applicable law or where The Nail Court is responsible for an error, defect, or other qualifying issue.
Please refer to our Returns, Refunds & Cancellations Policy for complete details.
